Customer
Global distributor of industrial products
Problem
Design and complete interior build out of 10-acre distribution center
Solution
Modern Racking Systems, Mezzanines, Conveyor Systems + more
Problem
The customer requested a complete design and construction for the systems in a new distribution center, including massive selective rack system, structural push back rack system, structural cantilevered rack system, multi-level structural mezzanine, thousands of steel shelving units, order processing conveyor (picking and packing) system on multiple levels, lockers rooms, lift equipment, guard rail, systems integration, WMS programming and more.
Solution
DAK undertook a comprehensive design/build of the new facility including all material handling systems, structural platforms, rack, shelving, conveyance, safety and lift equipment. All systems were integrated through a software implementation. Project used 40 manufacturers, 13 installation contractors, and took 22 weeks. Although the project was shut down by a hurricane for two weeks, the project was delivered early.
Results
The new distribution center increased order throughput to 3,000 orders per day and expanded storage capacity by 27,000 pallet positions and 182,000 shelf positions. Four other facilities were decommissioned and combined into this distribution center.
