What Is a Lineshaft Conveyor?

Line shaft conveyors are roller conveyors, but have several key differences compared to other types:

  • Uses a continuous shaft along the conveyor to power individual rollers through a series of belts and chains.
  • Uses less power than other types of live roller conveyors since it conveys lighter items. As a result, a single motor can power up to 100 feet of line shaft roller conveyor.

Here’s how line shaft-driven roller conveyors compare to other roller conveyors.

  • Belt-over roller conveyors – used in applications requiring better support, more precision and stronger grip, such as accumulation, merging product streams or accurately distributing conveyed items.
  • Zero-pressure conveyors – used to hold items in specific zones to avoid back pressure and bottlenecks. Reduces damage to fragile or delicate products.
  • CDLR conveyorsused to transport heavy items like pallets, often in dirty environments.
  • 24-volt conveyors – used in industrial setting to handle cases, although some models can move pallets as well. Quieter and uses less power than a traditional live roller conveyor.
