SPIRAL CONVEYORS

Maximize Your Warehouse Space with Spiral Conveyors

When you need to convey items to a different elevation but don’t have the room for incline or decline conveyors, make the most of your space with a spiral conveyor.

As a leader in material handling automation, our team of experts specializes in helping businesses of all sizes improve their efficiency and safety. Our industrial automation systems are designed to help you streamline inefficient material handling processes and grow your operations.

RMH Systems is a single-source conveyor system integrator that handles your project fully in-house, from design to implementation and aftermarket service. This helps you cut down on time you’d spend coordinating with multiple vendors for your conveyor system.

With more than 80 years of experience helping companies like yours improve the way they handle materials, RMH has the expertise to create a custom solution that solves your one-of-a-kind needs, regardless of size or complexity.

What Is a Spiral Conveyor?

Like its name suggests, a spiral conveyor uses power or gravity to transport objects to different elevations via a looped design that saves floor space. It can be used in tight spaces and is capable of handling slow speeds or rapid acceleration and deceleration.

There are different types of spiral conveyor systems:

  • Spiral accumulation conveyor—Allows the conveyor to store products, feed them onto other areas of the conveyor and control their movement. This type of conveyor is typically used for applications such as assembly lines, packaging systems and material sorting.
  • Gravity spiral conveyor—Uses a wide bed of skate wheels and gravity to control material movement. Conveyed items are gravity fed down an inclined plane, which provides a smooth, continuous flow due to the low-friction surface. This type of conveyor is typically used for packaging lines and sorting systems, providing an efficient and effective solution for moving items from one level to another. This type is also available as a gravity roller spiral conveyor, which has rollers that move items via gravity.
  • Spiral chute conveyor—A reasonably priced alternative that uses gravity to move soft goods or items in envelopes. A spiral chute conveyor has fewer turns, as opposed to other types of spiral conveyors, which means items may travel at a faster speed and may come out at a less-than-optimal orientation.
